AUSTIN (KXAN) — From barbecue to Mexican cuisine, hot dogs and vegan entrees, the amount of food trucks available in Austin is endless.
Nine food trucks in Austin made the Top 100 Food Trucks 2025 list on Yelp, with two of them ranking close to the No. 1 food truck in the nation, according to the Yelp website.
Jim’s Smokehouse
Jim’s Smokehouse was listed as No. 2 on Yelp, which is located at 6900 Ranch Rd 620 N, in Austin.
The food truck is family-owned, with a new version of Jim’s Smokehouse that originated from the owner’s grandfather, according to the Jim’s Smokehouse website.
The owner, Brad Yerkes, said on the website, “‘Papaw’ (Jim Yerkes), owned a BBQ place in Rockport named Jim’s Smokehouse. My brother and I worked in the restaurant, and I was always interested in how he smoked the meats.”
Brad brought his version of Jim’s Smokehouse to Austin in 2019, the website said.
“Now, Yelpers have awarded Brad’s smoked meats a whopping 94 percent five-star reviews and a prestigious mention in Yelp’s Top 10 BBQ Cities in the US,” the Yelp article said.
T-Loc’s Sonora Hot Dogs
T-Loc’s Sonora Hot Dogs, located at 5000 Burnet Road, was listed No. 8 on the Yelp list.
The hot dogs are originally from the state of Sonora, Mexico, according to T-Loc’s website. The website went on to say the hot dogs are “now part of Arizona food culture.”
“Authenticity is a priority, and one of the key ingredients to any Sonoran dog is the bun. That is why we import our buns all the way from Tucson weekly,” T-Loc said on its website.
The “Con Todo” hot dog, carne asada burrito, ranch fries, la Sonora dip and the eggsplosion burrito are what the website calls “fan favorites.”
The Sonora Hot Dog, which has a bacon-wrapped wiener, is a “combination of hot, cold, tangy, spicy, sweet and salty,” owner Miguel Kaiser said in the Yelp article. He said it is a must to order it “con todo.”
Paprika ATX
Paprika ATX, located at 6539 N. Lamar Blvd., was listed No. 19 on the Yelp list.
The food truck is described as “a mobile kitchen that serves Mexican food with Texas ingredients and techniques,” according to Paprika ATX’s website.
“With a focus on fresh ingredients and comfort, Paprika is your reminder that oftentimes the best foods are simple,” the website said.
Bodhi Viet Vegan
Bodhi Viet Vegan, located at 2301 W. Parmer Ln., was listed No. 23 on the Yelp list.
The food truck uses homegrown vegetables, creates meals from scratch and is “powered by dedicated volunteer workers,” according to the Bodhi Viet Vegan website.
The food truck said 100% of the profits made are dedicated to its temple.
“Peace begins on your plate,” the food truck said on its website. “We spread this message through tasty, homemade meat-free and meat-alternative Vietnamese cuisine. We are a group of local Buddhist Nuns and volunteers who believe that wholesome vegan food is the key to a peaceful and healthy lifestyle.”
Ceviche7
Ceviche7, located at 502 W. 30th St., was listed as No. 30 on the Yelp list.
The food truck has Peruvian cuisine, which is “influenced by Spain, France, Africa, and Asia [and] mixed with native Peruvian styles,” according to the Ceviche7 website.
The food truck said its style of food is reflected in all of its dishes with intense flavor on each plate.
Buenos Sabores
Buenos Sabores, located at 11416 N. FM 620, was listed No. 48 on the Yelp list.
The food truck describes itself as “an authentic homemade-style food Mexican restaurant in Austin, TX,” according to the Buenos Sabores website.
The food truck offers event catering and corporate catering, according to the website.
Granny’s Tacos
Granny’s Tacos, located at 1401 E. Seventh St., was listed No. 58 on the Yelp list.
The food truck said it is a “Mexican eatery” and aims to delight its customers “with delicious dishes crafted from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, while fostering a warm and welcoming atmosphere that reflects the vibrant spirit of Mexican culture,” according to Granny’s Tacos’ website.
“We aspire to not only satisfy appetites but also to create memorable moments for our guests, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for the diverse tapestry of Mexican gastronomy,” the website said.
Flavia’s Kitchen and Boteco
Both Flavia’s Kitchen (No. 68) and Boteco (No. 69) were listed on the Yelp list. However, the food trucks were closed at the time this article was written.
