League City police said Chance Stafford had felony warrants in Harris County for money laundering, credit card abuse and engaging in organized crime.
LEAGUE CITY, Texas — Three Houston men went to jail over the weekend when the League City Police Department said it was notified by its Flock Safety system about a stolen U-Haul box truck on the Gulf Freeway.
LCPD said an officer spotted the vehicle heading north near the League City Parkway just before 2 a.m. on Saturday, June 21.
He followed them until backup units arrived and then tried to pull them over. They tried to take off but crashed into a curb. With the truck still moving, LCPD said the three suspects bailed out and ran across the north and southbound lanes towards Baybrook Mall.
A perimeter was quickly set up. With help from Harris County Precinct 8 Constable deputies, Houston Police Department officers and an HPD helicopter, all three were captured.
LCPD said Chance Stafford, 29, was wanted on felony warrants out of Harris County for money laundering, credit/debit card abuse and engaging in organized crime.
The driver, 30-year-old Delvin William, is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Passenger Marcell Williams is charged with evading arrest.
All three also face a charge of engaging in organized crime out of Galveston County because police said they found stolen fireworks inside the van. According to the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, they were reported stolen from a stand in the Dickinson area.
