Man killed in Garland motel shooting in North Texas

Police did not name a suspect.

GARLAND, Texas — A man was killed in a shooting at a Garland motel Friday morning, police say. 

According to a news release from the Garland Police Department, officers responded to the 12700 block of LBJ Freeway to reports of a shooting around 5:15 a.m. Police said the shooting happened in the parking lot of a motel. 

Once officers arrived, police said they found a man in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

According to police, early findings indicate that there was a disturbance in the parking lot, which eventually led to the shooting. Investigators believe it was an isolated incident, police said. 

The name of the victim has not yet been released.

Garland police said this investigation is ongoing.
