Trader Joe’s has confirmed that both locations will remain open.
WASHINGTON — Trader Joe’s fans in Sherman Oaks, California now have two stores to choose from — directly across the street from each other.
The grocery chain recently opened a new location at 14140 Riverside Drive on June 6, less than 100 yards from its long-standing store at 14119 Riverside Drive.
The setup led to confusion among many online, with multiple viral TikTok videos pointing out just how close the stores are to each other. One video shows a user panning from one Trader Joe’s storefront to the other, showcasing the unusually close proximity.
Trader Joe’s has confirmed that while both Sherman Oaks stores will offer the same staple items, both locations will remain open.
“We’ve had a great relationship with our customers in Sherman Oaks for 52 years, and we plan to keep both stores open,” Trader Joe’s spokesperson Nakia Rohde said.
“Both stores offer the same great products and delightful customer experience, but each has a different layout and parking lot.”
The new location is named “Sherman Oaks too, CA” on the Trader Joe’s website.
Rohde added that Trader Joe’s is always looking to expand. “Since Trader Joe’s began in 1967, we have been in growth mode. Some years, we grow more than others, and our goal is always to bring delicious products at great values to as many people as we can. The best way to do that is to open more stores,” she said.
Trader Joe’s currently has 23 new locations across the US listed as “coming soon” on its website.
