AUSTIN (KXAN) – In a special edition of Kristen’s Classroom, Meteorologist Kristen Currie takes a field trip to Moody Gardens in Galveston, Texas, to explore their aquarium and rainforest exhibits.
Moody Gardens Aquarium Pyramid
The Aquarium Pyramid at Moody Gardens explores ocean life in some of Earth’s most habitable basins: the Gulf, South Atlantic, North Pacific, South Pacific and, Caribbean.
Inside the aquarium, visitors will find a 1.5-million-gallon tank with all sorts of aquatic life, including penguins, seals, sharks, and a jellyfish gallery.

There is also a Coral Reef Lab, which works in partnership with NOAA’s Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary, to educate visitors and further advance coral conservation.

Moody Gardens Rainforest Pyramid
The Rainforest Pyramid is an interactive exhibit featuring animal and plant life from the rainforests of Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Stairs up through the “tree canopy” lead visitors to a greenhouse area containing thousands of exotic plants and unique animals, insects, and reptiles. This exhibit allows for unique, up-close opportunities to rare wildlife found in rainforests. Visitors can even immerse themselves in a virtual rainforest through an audio hallway.
