The sheriff’s office said she walked away from her camp and did not return. The CCSO search and rescue unit conducted a search of the area.
On June 16, the sheriff’s office said Banda had been found safe. Her family told 12News she was located at the bottom of a cliff.
Sarah Banda, Janelle’s sister, said the family is relieved to know she’s alright.
“I couldn’t imagine my life without her, and I’m so happy that I get to still have more time with her,” the sister said.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office said they hoisted Banda out of a canyon using their Huey helicopter.
