Argyle ISD boosts teacher pay following Texas House Bill 2

The Argyle Independent School District Board voted unanimously to increase salaries for teachers and support staff in its June meeting.

ARGYLE, Texas — On the heels of Texas House Bill 2 being signed into law, Argyle ISD is making bold investments in its classrooms that go beyond the historic investment from the state.

Bigger Paychecks for Teachers

While House Bill 2 limits additional funding to classroom teachers with at least two years of experience, in its June meeting, the Argyle ISD board unanimously approved:

  • Classroom teachers with 0-2 years of experience will receive a $2,100 per year increase.
  • Classroom teachers with 3–4 years will receive a $2,500 per year increase.
  • Classroom teachers with 5 or more years in the classroom will receive a $5,000 per year increase.

Beyond that, all other district staff will see a 3.5% bump, calculated off the midpoint of their current pay range.

Pay is not the only investment.

The Argyle ISD board approved hiring 38 new classroom teachers and reinstated 7 support staff positions that were previously lost due to budget concerns. In the June 17 presentation, projections show those moves will significantly reduce class sizes starting in the 2025–2026 school year.

“I know as a parent of a child with special needs, that is huge,” said Elizabeth Martin, a parent of two and PTA president in the district. “It’s going to make such a difference, not only in the students’ lives, but for teachers and support staff who are currently overloaded. It feels like a step in the right direction, especially since our district is growing so rapidly.”

These raises are part of a new permanent pay scale, not temporary stipends. That means long-term stability for educators and support staff who call Argyle home.
