Austin recording artist to be on America's Got Talent

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin recording artist Mama Duke has come a long way in her career.

“I had huge stage fright growing up,” Duke said.

Now you’ll find her performing on stage in front of large crowds in Austin and beyond.

You can also find her music on Apple Music, Spotify and many other music platforms.

Mama Duke said her passion for music and the happiness she brings to those who enjoy her music keeps her going.

“Do I just want to be seen?” Mama Duke said. “That is my goal. For somebody to see me on TV and say I like that. I like her artistry, I like her songwriting, no, no, no I like her.”

On Tuesday, Mama Duke will be seen on TV by millions across the nation, as she makes her auditioning debut on America’s Got Talent.

“I can say now that I have auditioned in front of Scary Spice Mel B, and Simon and Howie. I am, what is it called, I am not scared of anything anymore,” Mama Duke said.

When KXAN asked what Mama Duke wants viewers to know about her, she said: “I want viewers to know that I work at the YMCA still and that is important to me, and I say that to say that even though I could potentially reach new heights, I am very much real,” Mama Duke said. “I very much still need a vote. I am very much still an Austinite, starving artist, still hungry, needing my community.”

You can tune in tonight at 7 p.m. on America’s Got Talent right here on KXAN to see how she does.
