Premier ranks Houston-area health systems as top in nation

Several Houston-area health systems ranked among the best in the nation in a new report.

HOUSTON — Houston Methodist took the No. 1 spot among large health systems in Premier’s 15 Top Health Systems in the United States.

The annual list ranks health systems based on clinical outcomes, extended outcomes, operational efficiency and patient experience. A total of 338 health systems were evaluated for the 2025 Premier’s 15 Top Health Systems list.  

To help spotlight the top hospitals and health systems across the nation, The Business Journals is partnering with Premier, a technology-driven, health care improvement company, to publish its annual rankings, including its 100 Top Hospitals ranking.

In that ranking, The Woodlands, Willowbrook, Sugar Land and west Houston took the Nos. 4-6 and 9 spots on the large community hospitals list. Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital ranked No. 4 in the medium category, Houston Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center is No. 9 among major teaching hospitals, and Houston Methodist Baytown Hospital is No. 11 on the teaching hospitals list.
