Aldi cuts prices on 400 items for summer savings

The deals are expected to save customers $100 million this summer, according to the grocery chain.

WASHINGTON — As people prepare for summer cookouts and barbecues, Aldi is once again cutting prices on hundreds of grocery items at all its stores.

Prices on more than 400 products at Aldi’s over 2,400 stores will go down in a new promotion to provide customers with the lowest possible costs for the season.

“Our customers count on ALDI for the lowest prices of any national grocer, every day, and we never take that trust for granted,” Aldi CEO Jason Hart said. “While customers may see higher prices at other retailers, we’re working hard to unlock even more value for our shoppers, just in time for summer’s lineup of holidays and gatherings where food takes center stage. It’s another way we’re doubling down on our commitment to help shoppers fill their carts with great products for less.”

The deals are expected to save customers $100 million this summer, according to the discount chain.

Aldi credits its ability to cut prices to how it operates differently from other grocery stores. For example, Aldi does not play music in its stores and requires a quarter deposit in order for customers to use its shopping carts. But the company also keeps prices low by primarily selling products under its own labels.

According to a press release by the grocery chain, some of the discounted items may include ground beef burgers, baby back ribs, protein bars, sodas, fruit and other snacks.

The country’s fastest growing grocer also continues to expand. Aldi plans to open more than 225 new stores this year to bring its affordable grocery model to more communities nationwide.

“Value isn’t a trend at ALDI. It’s been in our DNA since we opened our first store nearly 50 years ago,” Aldi Chief Commercial Officer Scott Patton said. “This summer, we’re going further to deliver more of what sets us apart, great products at the lowest possible prices. With price drops on the season’s most-loved products in every aisle, we want to do what we can to help shoppers enjoy more of summer.”

What products are included in the ALDI summer price drops?

According to the company, the summer price drops cover a wide range of items, including:

  • Fresh meat
  • Organic produce
  • Pantry staples
  • Snacks and beverages
  • Summer favorites for cookouts, picnics, and road trips

Customers should look for the red ‘Price Drops’ logo when shopping in store or online to find the deals.
