Officials with the Cy Fair Fire Department believe lightning was the cause.
HOUSTON — A family and their pets are safe after a house fire broke out early Wednesday morning in the Chimney Hill subdivision, according to the Cy-Fair Fire Department.
Fire crews were sent to the home shortly after a lightning strike was reported in the area. The department’s public information officer said they believe the fire was caused by lightning.
Crews arrived quickly and were able to put the fire out. Fortunately, all residents and their pets made it out safely, officials said.
The Red Cross has been called in to help the family. The Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the incident to officially confirm the cause of the fire.
The fire comes as thunderstorms continue to move through parts of the Greater Houston area, bringing lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rain.
