HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Former Houston Mayor Annise Parker on Wednesday is expected to make an announcement regarding her political future.

The announcement will take place on the steps of the Harris County Civil Courthouse at 10 a.m.

Parker is listed on Rice University’s website as a professor in the practice and as the senior vice president and chief strategy officer at Neighborhood Centers, Inc.

According to her page on Rice’s website, Parker was also previously a fellow of the Institute of Politics at Harvard.

Last year, the former mayor retired from her role as CEO of the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, whose goal is to support candidates who support LGBTQ+ issues.

“LGBTQ+ Victory Fund supports pro-equality, pro-choice, out LGBTQ+ candidates at all levels of government who we know can win their elections and fight for our rights,” the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund’s website reads.

Rice’s website credits Parker as being the first openly LGBTQ+ mayor of a major American city.

This story will be updated as we learn more about Parker’s announcement.
