North Loop, I-610 WB ramp to I-45 inbound shut down after lost load

KHOU 11 traffic expert Jennifer Reyna said at 6:30 a.m. it would likely take several hours to clear the lost load.

HOUSTON — A lost load of lumber has forced the closure of the North Loop westbound ramp to I-45 inbound early Wednesday morning.

The crash was first reported around 1:15 a.m.

Air 11 captured video showing piles of lumber scattered across the roadway, with forklifts working to clear the scene.

KHOU 11 traffic expert Jennifer Reyna reported at 6:30 a.m. that it could take several more hours to fully reopen the ramp.

Alternate routes

To avoid this closure and surrounding backups:

  • Use I-10 inbound as an alternate route to reach downtown or Midtown.

  • Take the North Loop feeder road and re-enter I-45 further south via Cavalcade or Patton.

  • Use Highway 288 or Eastex Freeway inbound as alternate north-south routes into central Houston.

  • Coming from the Heights or Oak Forest? Consider local streets like North Main, Airline, or Studewood to connect to I-10 or 610 East Loop.
