A fatal crash involving an 18-wheeler has closed parts of East Freeway near Holland Street, causing major delays.

HOUSTON — A deadly crash involving an 18-wheeler and a vehicle rollover has shut down parts of the East Freeway eastbound near Holland Avenue, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash, reported late Tuesday morning, has resulted in one confirmed death. Authorities say the right shoulder, entrance ramp, and feeder road in the area are currently closed for investigation.

Both the Houston Police Department and Harris County Sheriff’s Office units are on scene, along with TxDOT crews, as the investigation and cleanup continue.

Drivers in the area should expect major delays heading eastbound on I-10 near East Houston and Jacinto City.

Alternate routes

To avoid congestion on I-10 East:

  • Use Highway 90 East (Crosby Freeway) as a detour for longer eastbound travel

  • Exit earlier at Wayside Drive and take Market Street or Wallisville Road eastbound to reconnect past the crash

  • Consider I-610 East Loop to detour around the affected area and re-enter I-10 further east
