ACMI Properties partners with Houston firms to design Exploration Park for the commercial space sector near NASA.
HOUSTON — More local firms have been tapped to help design a new industrial park for the commercial space sector.
ACMI Properties, the Austin-based developer building out Exploration Park near NASA Johnson Space Center, has named Gensler as the design firm, Griffin Partners as a new co-development firm and Walter P Moore as the civil engineering firm for the project. All are either based in Houston or have a significant office here.
Exploration Park is set to begin construction in the second half of the year with at least 20 build-to-suit facilities planned. Besides aerospace, the campus could also serve advanced manufacturing, robotics, life support systems and artificial intelligence companies.
“We are seeing a cascade of tenancy interest from companies and are thrilled to be working alongside Griffin Partners and leading architecture and engineering firms to bring the project to life,” Simon Shewmaker, head of development at ACMI, said in a June 4 release.
