Major crash shuts down Katy Freeway westbound at Barker Cypress

​Houston police said at least one person was transported by Life Flight.

HOUSTON — A major crash on the Katy Freeway caused significant traffic backups near Barker Cypress Road Sunday afternoon..

According to Houston TranStar, it happened in the westbound lanes and involved four vehicles.

The crash impacted the left shoulder, right shoulder, left lane, right lane and four center lanes.

Houston police said at least one person was transported by Life Flight. At this time, it is unclear what led to the crash and if there are any fatalities.

According to HCSO, first responders are on scene. As an alternate route, drivers should exit Highway 6 and stay on the service road.
