Teen suspects sold THC gummies at Prosper Texas graduation party, per affidavit

Several people who ate the gummies became severely ill, according to the arrest affidavit.

PROSPER, Texas — One of the two suspects arrested after several people were hospitalized following a graduation party in North Texas last month told police the pair bought THC gummies and sold them to the eight people before they became ill, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Prosper police were called to help Prosper ISD police and the Prosper Fire Department at a private, overnight graduation party at a rental facility in the 1600 block of Coit Road shortly after 2 a.m. May 17, officials said.

Paramedics treated multiple people “experiencing medical distress” and transported eight people to local hospitals, police said after the event.

Kyle Munchineuta, 17, of Prosper, and Cesar Omana, 18, of Frisco, were subsequently charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony, in connection with the incident.

Munchineuta told police he and Omana bought a package of THC-infused gummies at a Plano smoke shop and sold them to the victims, “who became severely ill and displayed overdose-like symptoms after ingesting the edibles,” according to the affidavit.

Seven of the nine people known to have ingested the edibles were taken to local hospitals, according to the affidavit.

Prosper ISD previously said the event, a graduation celebration event for seniors, which is described on its website as an overnight lock-in that’s parent-organized and funded (not organized by the district) and drug and alcohol free, ended early following the “incident.”

“We wanted to relay information about the incident at graduation celebration.  While we cannot provide specific details, several young adults experienced medical emergencies and required transport from the event. The Town of Prosper responded quickly, and graduation celebration ended early. All affected young adults are receiving appropriate medical care,” Prosper ISD shared in a statement to senior parents at the time.
