I-69 Southwest Freeway will close southbound from June 6 to June 9 for Phase Two of the Brazos River Bridge project.
HOUSTON — I-69 Southwest Freeway will be closed southbound from University Boulevard to Greatwood Parkway starting 9 p.m., June 6 until 5 a.m., June 9.
This closure is a part of ongoing construction and the start of Phase Two of the I-69 Brazos River Bridge project.
Texas Department of Transportation says all southbound traffic will split around the work zone. The three southbound lanes will shift right onto a new bridge. The HOV lane and one main lane will shift to the left.
Northbound lanes will not be affected during this part of the construction.
According to TxDOT, the $53 million project will extend the I-69 main lane and frontage roads north and southbound around 1,000 feet. The project will also permanently remove the damaged turnaround under the bridge. Completion is targeted for late 2027.
TxDOT encourages drivers to follow posted detours, stay aware of changing traffic patterns and be cautious during construction.
