BEXAR AREA, Texas — 5 BCSO deputies were suspended after they were distracted from their tasks by phones, motion pictures and sleeping, according to suspension documents acquired by TheTXLoop Checks out.
Replacement captured on phone throughout inmate assault, records reveal
An inmate referred to as violent and unpredictable hit a registered nurse 3 times while she tried to scan his hospital bracelet throughout a May 2024 hospital browse through.
Self-control documents show Jeffrey Pike was designated to protect the inmate. Video clip from the healthcare facility reveals Pike on his phone while the assault unfolded.
Records reveal the firm put on hold Pike for someday.
Sleeping, viewing motion pictures on duty
After a deputy principal captured Sincere Ramirez enjoying a motion picture on duty during a November 2024 change, technique documents show the company suspended Ramirez for three days.
Records show BCSO suspended Ethan Cantu for 5 days after he admitted to managers he went to sleep.
In June 2024, a deputy listened to a commotion inside the Bexar Region Adult Apprehension Center device where Cantu worked.
Records show the unrevealed deputy attempted to call and examine Cantu, that really did not respond to. The unnamed replacement tried to bang on the door of the unit, yet Cantu did not respond.
The deputy called a code to check on Cantu, that he believed was unconscious.
BCSO handed Joseph Chamorro a five-day suspension after he was captured resting on task at the jail.
Chamorro was designated to operate in the jail’s recreation room in October 2024 Records reveal he did not have his body-worn camera on with 15 to 20 prisoners in the area.
An additional deputy, Anthony Rosales, was caught oversleeping the prison’s South Tower while at work in May 2024 Records show the firm suspended Rosales for one day.
