In a declaration, DPD claimed a municipal court judgment doesn’t limit police officers from various other techniques of examining hooking and trafficking criminal offenses in the city.
DALLAS– The Dallas Police Department said in a statement it is briefly stopping briefly enforcement of the city’s prostitution ordinance.
In a declaration, the division stated it has advised policemans to stop enforcement of the statute after a recent ruling by the city’s municipal court stating the ordinance unconstitutional.
“The Department has actually advised officers to momentarily stop enforcement of Dallas City Code Sec. 31 – 27, ‘Materializing the Function of Engaging in Prostitution,’ based upon the recent judgment of the City of Dallas Municipal Court,” the Dallas Authorities Department stated in a statement. “The Division stays committed to implementing all laws, and this judgment does not limit police officers from other techniques of exploring and enforcing hooking and trafficking criminal activities in the City of Dallas.”
Court documents reveal 2 separate tests in the municipal court where charges of “manifesting the objective of participating in prostitution” were dismissed. One of the suspects is still being billed with solicitation of owners of cars.
