AUSTIN (KXAN)– Tuesday, Travis Region Court Andy Brown held the 5th Annual Pride Flag Raising Event at the Travis Area Administrative Structure.
Individuals elevated the ‘Development Pride Flag’ at the ceremony, a news release stated.
The Progression Satisfaction Flag included a chevron of white, pink, light blue, brown and black to represent transgender rights, individuals of color and those coping with or shed to HIV/AIDS, stated the release. This was the 5th year the Satisfaction Flag flew over Travis Region.
In 2021, the commissioners court elected the first time ever before to “authorize flying the flag over the Travis Region Administration Building,” said the release.
According to the release, this belonged to a resolution that embraced “extensive plans that prohibit contractors from victimizing race, color, nationwide origin, religion, sexual orientation, sex identity/ expression or expert standing.”
Brown spoke on the relevance of the flag’s flight over Travis County.
“Now more than ever before, we require to declare our commitment to the LGBTQIA neighborhood,” Brown revealed. “In increasing the Progress Pride Flag, which is still lawful in Texas, Travis Region acknowledges the pioneers, lobbyists, loved ones who paved the way for inclusion and equality throughout background,” Brown included.
Pride Month is observed in June. It is a “time to recognize the durability and contributions of our LGBTQIA neighborhood participants,” stated Brown.
Brown said elevating the Pride Flag is a powerful suggestion that every person is “seen, celebrated and sustained.”
