UVALDE, Texas — The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School Area Board of Trustees will fulfill today to take into consideration accepting the resignation of its current head of state and review a previous quorum problem during a conference later on today.
Online schedule files for Thursday’s meetings show both as topics of discussion for the seven-person board.
Board head of state sends resignation
Existing board president Calvin “Cal” Lambert submitted his resignation, reliable May 27, according to a June 1 record from the Uvalde Leader News Lambert mentioned health and wellness concerns in his resignation.
Lambert’s term as college board head of state was set to end in May 2028 He signed up with the board in November 2020, following his reelection as an at-large trustee during the May 2024 political election.
Lambert was reelected as an at-large trustee throughout the May 4, 2024, election. He was designated institution board president following the political election, the Uvalde Leader Information reported.
Quorum concern
Throughout a May 19 special conference, which eleventh hour, trustee Jaclyn Gonzales raised an issue relating to the board’s possible offense of a 1982 federal boss equal depiction.
Gonzales thought 4 resting trustees’ “ended terms” breached the order, preventing them from ballot.
In a joint declaration on May 23, Lambert and Uvalde CISD Superintendent Ashley Cholis laid out the board’s “ongoing initiatives to deal with and clarify the historical and current procedures entailing school board election treatments and term changes.”
