The runoffs included the closely watched GOP U.S. Senate race between John Cornyn and Ken Paxton.
HOUSTON — Texans headed to the polls on May 26 for primary election runoffs to decide several high-profile races in front of November’s general election.
U.S. Senate runoff results
Incumbent Sen. John Cornyn faced off against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Cornyn was the top vote-getter in the March 3 primary, but strong showings by two GOP challengers forced the four-term incumbent to Tuesday’s head-to-head matchup with Paxton, the second-place finisher who received President Donald Trump’s endorsement on May 19.
Paxton won in the runoff and will face Democratic state Rep. James Talarico in the general election.
