MELISSA, Texas — A man was arrested after police say he brought a rifle to a community pool during a confrontation involving several adults and teenagers in Melissa last weekend.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by WFAA, officers responded to the Meadow Run community pool and found a man standing nearby holding a rifle pointed toward the ground.
The man, identified in court records as Kevin Brown, was later arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Victoria Cole said she was hosting her daughter’s birthday party at the pool when the situation escalated.
Cole recorded video of the incident, which has since received more than 2 million views on TikTok.
According to the affidavit, the confrontation began after a woman approached Cole’s daughter about propping open the gate to the pool.
Investigators say that led to a verbal altercation involving several adults.
At one point during the argument, court documents detail someone mentioned getting a gun.
Police say the woman involved later told officers she felt threatened and outnumbered and called her husband, Brown, to come to the pool.
According to the affidavit, Brown then arrived carrying a rifle pointed toward the ground.
Witnesses told police people at the pool began leaving the area after seeing the weapon.
WFAA briefly spoke with Brown by phone. He said he is in the process of hiring an attorney and declined further comment.
Police have not announced any additional charges or arrests connected to the incident.
Melissa police said the investigation remains ongoing.
