‘Grey’s Anatomy’ is getting a Texas spinoff. Here’s what it will look like.

A new ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ spinoff from Shonda Rimes, showrunner and executive producer Meg Marinis and Ellen Pompeo

TEXAS, USA — The newest iteration of the mega-popular ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ will be set right here in Texas, according to a recent report from Deadline

The new series will be a spinoff of ABC’s long-running medical drama and will be produced by the same people behind the original series, according to Deadline.

ABC has already ordered the untitled medical drama, which is co-created, written and executive produced by Shonda Rhimes and ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ showrunner/executive producer Meg Marinis,  from Shondaland and 20th Television. Grey’s star Ellen Pompeo is executive producing.

The show will premiere in midseason 2027, according to Deadline.

The show is described as an “edgy drama about a team at a rural West Texas medical center — the last chance for care before miles of nowhere,” Deadline said.

This is the fourth spinoff in the Grey’s Anatomy franchise, alongside “Private Practice and “Station 19.”

“I am incredibly excited to expand the ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ universe,” Marinis said. “This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas.

The spinoff will revolve around a new group of doctors.

Marinis is from Houston and attended the University of Texas at Austin.
