After winning a nationwide vote, the U.S. Postal Service is reissuing a fan favorite Mister Rodgers stamp.
WASHINGTON — Mister Rogers is heading back to neighborhoods across America…well, to their mailboxes, at least.
The U.S. Postal Service announced Sunday that the beloved 2018 Mister Rogers stamps won the USPS Stamp Encore contest.
More than half a million votes were cast by the public to bring back one favorite design from recent years as part of a celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The Mister Rogers stamp had 40,000 more votes than the next-highest contender.
The USPS said the original run of 12 million stamps sold out within weeks of its 2018 debut.
The Mister Rogers stamp has now been reissued, along with a new, four-image Mister Rogers souvenir sheet.
How to get Mister Rogers forever stamps
The reissued stamps go on sale at post office locations across the country on Monday, June 1. It’ll also be available online at The Postal Store.
If you happen to be in Boston this week, the stamps are exclusively on sale at the Boston 2026 World Exposition, through May 30.
“Fred Rogers often shared the idea that ‘You are not just the age you are. You are all the ages you ever have been,’” Isaac Cronkhite, the Postal Service’s chief processing and distribution officer and executive vice president said, “In this context, I believe the Mister Rogers stamp resonated with the child in each of us — and the children and former children who cast so many votes.”
“Fred Rogers considered the space between the television set and a viewer to be ‘holy ground,’” said Emma Lee, Director of the Fred Rogers Institute. “The mail children sent to Mister Rogers, and his letters back, became an essential extension of that sacred connection. Reissuing this stamp beautifully honors the enduring ties he built with his television friends.”
