Investigators say they are still looking for potential witnesses and victims.
MAGNOLIA, Texas — A former second-grade teacher at Magnolia Parkway Elementary School was arrested Thursday on a felony charge alleging an improper relationship with students, according to Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constables.
Jason Tomas Maldonado, 40, of Magnolia, was taken into custody after meeting with investigators at the Child Protective Services Office. He faces a charge of attempted improper relationship between educator and student, a third-degree felony in Texas, and is being held on a $150,000 bond.
The investigation began in December 2025 following a report through Child Protective Services alleging inappropriate contact between Maldonado and students during the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years. Since then, Precinct 5 investigators say they have conducted multiple forensic interviews with students, spoken with witnesses and school personnel, and contacted numerous families connected to the classroom.
Investigators say several students disclosed incidents of inappropriate physical contact, including lap-sitting, prolonged hugging, and other conduct said to have occurred inside the classroom. Some students further alleged that touching occurred underneath or inside clothing. Investigators say they are continuing to identify and interview potential witnesses and victims.
“Any crime against our children will be fully investigated and followed through with until justice is served,” Constable Chris Jones said in a news release.
Due to the ages of the children involved and the sensitive nature of the allegations, no additional identifying information regarding the students will be released.
The Precinct 5 Constables Office said it will continue working alongside the Magnolia Independent School District to protect students and staff.
