TERRELL, Texas — Terrell police arrested a 47-year-old man early Tuesday morning after reportedly finding 27 guns and thousands of rounds of ammo in the U-Haul rental truck he was driving, officials say.
According to the Terrell Police Department, officers stopped the suspect’s truck at about 1 a.m. Tuesday, and while investigating, the suspect, Wesley Chapel, admitted to having a gun and several THC vapes in the vehicle, and to being a convicted felon.
In total, along with the guns, police say they found about about 5,000 rounds of ammo and $4,400 in cash.
Police charged Chapel with firearm smuggling, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a controlled substance.
The investigation is ongoing.
