Plans for a new four-story parking garage in the Fort Worth Stockyards are moving forward after receiving zoning approval, offering the potential for new infrastructure in a bustling area that’s usually swarming with people and cars.
The family behind bootmaker M.L. Leddy’s proposed replacing an existing surface parking lot with a $14 million, four-story parking garage at 115 NW 25th Street and 2458 Ellis Ave. to help meet the elevated parking demand in the Stockyards. The area sees about 10 million visitors a year.
The Fort Worth Zoning Commission on May 13 unanimously recommended a conditional use permit for Franklin Leddy Corp. and W Real Estate Holdings LLC for the new structure. The 246-space garage would be built in partnership with Parking Systems of America and feature retail and office space on the ground floor, according to a zoning presentation.
The case is scheduled to go before Fort Worth City Council on June 9 and the Urban Design Commission on June 18. Mark Dunlap, general manager of M.L. Leddy’s, said in a statement that initial construction work should start in late July, after the FIFA World Cup, and wrap up in summer 2027. But the conversation about the parking garage started years ago, he said.
