Denton Police say the incident happened at an apartment complex on N. Bell Avenue, on May 12, after an argument between the three.
DENTON, Texas — A man has been arrested after police say he shot two people, including his ex-girlfriend, on Tuesday night, according to Denton Police.
Denton Police say officers, along with Denton Firefighters, went to an apartment complex in the 2400 block of N. Bell Avenue after getting reports that several gunshots were fired.
Officials say that as they were headed to the scene, two women flagged them down. Police say both women had gunshot wounds.
Investigators say the two were in an apartment complex parking lot when Gerald Riggins, who previously dated one of the women, approached them as they were entering a car. Police say an argument broke out and escalated when Riggins fired multiple shots at them.
Officials say Riggins’ ex-girlfriend was holding a child and was struck by a bullet. The child was uninjured. The second woman was inside the car and was hit by a bullet that went through the door. Police say both were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say Riggins ran from the scene and fled to Oklahoma City.
After obtaining arrest warrants, police say officers in Oklahoma City were able to locate and arrest Riggins.
Officials say Riggins is currently in the Oklahoma County Detention Center on three counts of Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon and is awaiting extradition to Denton.
