WCSO warns of fraudulent calls, emails posing as employees of the agency

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert to residents regarding fraudulent activity.

WCSO said people were falsely claiming to be employees of the agency.

“These scammers may use real names and titles of Williamson County Sheriff’s Office personnel to appear credible,” WCSO said.

The sheriff’s office said it would never call or send emails “demanding payment, personal information, or threatening arrest.”

WCSO said anyone who receives a suspicious call should contact the office by calling (512) 943-1300.

“Please help us spread the word to friends and neighbors—especially those who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams,” WCSO said.
