A free screening of the documentary The River and the Wall this Thursday seeks to raise awareness that border wall construction is yet again being proposed in one of Texas’ most ecologically sensitive area: Big Bend National Park.
Distinct ecological zones ranging from low desert country to high mountain forest converge in Big Bend, making the relatively compact area one of the most biologically diverse regions in the U.S.
The National Parks Conservation Association, the Big Bend Conservation Alliance, Keep Big Bend Wild, Latino Outdoors, San Antonio River Aid and the San Antonio River Foundation are jointly presenting the screening of The River and the Wall, which will take place at Confluence Park.
A panel discussion by regional experts will precede the film. The discussion will revolve around the potential impact of a Big Bend border wall on wildlife and the environment.
Seating is limited, and attendees are asked to bring their own chairs.
Free, Thursday, May 14, 7-10 p.m., Confluence Park, 310 W Mitchell, (210) 224-2694, npca.org.
