No, Texas isn’t outlawing tattoos, despite what you may see on social media.
HOUSTON — A viral claim about tattoos being banned in Texas is spreading online, and it has a lot of people confused.
Circulating posts on social media falsely claim a new Texas law would make tattoos illegal by 2028.
The claims even appear to use a fake press release attributed to Gov. Greg Abbott.
One red flag, though, is that Texas didn’t even have a legislative session in 2024, the date that’s listed on the post. State records also show the bill number mentioned in the posts has nothing to do with tattoos.
