A 65-year-old man in Montgomery County faces charges of online solicitation of a minor after being arrested by undercover officers posing as a 13-year-old girl.
HOUSTON — A 65-year-old man is charged after investigators say he attempted to arrange sex with a 13-year-old girl he met in his neighborhood.
According to investigators, the teen and several friends were walking to a friend’s house in Montgomery County when they encountered Brian Blain outside his home.
The 13-year-old told KHOU 11 that Blain offered the girls candy and asked for their phone numbers.
“We gave him our number because we didn’t think anything of it,” the teen said.
But the girl said the calls, text messages and voicemails soon became alarming.
“Yeah, I don’t get scared easily,” she said. “That made me scared and uncomfortable.”
KHOU 11 is not identifying the teen or her family because she is a minor.
After seeing the messages, the girl’s parents contacted law enforcement.
“I wanted to go break his neck, to be honest,” the girl’s father said. “I was furious. Dad instinct.”
Investigators with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said undercover officers then began communicating with Blain while posing as the teen.
“Our undercover units began having verbal dialogue with this individual, where he agreed to have sex with her and, in the process, was grooming a 13-year-old child,” Constable Mark Herman said.
Authorities said Blain later agreed to meet someone he believed was the girl at a local elementary school on Friday evening. Investigators said he was arrested when he arrived.
Blain appeared in court on Monday and is charged with online solicitation of a minor.
The girl’s mother described the messages as graphic and disturbing.
“It was disgusting,” she said. “He was willing to come to our house while we were away at work.”
The family said they are sharing their story in hopes that other parents will talk to their children about stranger danger and online safety. They also fear there could be additional victims.
“The text messages coming through to my baby’s phone — he’s a pro at this,” the girl’s mother said. “I don’t think this is his first time.”
The incident occurred in Montgomery County, but the victim lives in Harris County. Constables say the case is a joint investigation involving officials in both counties.
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim is urged to contact investigators.
