18-wheeler loses load on Katy Freeway eastbound at Houston Ave bridge

It happened at the same place where dozens of trucks have struck the bridge over the last year.

HOUSTON — A heavy truck lost its load Monday afternoon on Katy Freeway eastbound at Houston Avenue, blocking two center lanes, according to a freeway incident alert.

The incident, which involved one vehicle, happened around 3:39 p.m. Two center lanes remain affected.

Houston TranStar video of the scene shows an 18-wheeler stopped in one of the center lanes. A large tank appears to have fallen off the back of the truck.

Drivers heading eastbound in the area should expect delays and consider alternate routes.

Tall trucks frequently strike this bridge. Nearly 75 18-wheeler trucks struck the bridge last year. It’s not yet clear if that’s what happened in this case.
