The new menu features a tropical new Refresher and returning summer fan favorites.
WASHINGTON — Starbucks’ summer menu arrives this week, providing tropical and horchata-inspired drinks for the season.
The new seasonal menu will launch on Tuesday, May 12, at Starbucks locations across the country. The centerpiece of this year’s summer rollout is the Tropical Butterfly Refresher, a new drink blending passionfruit and guava flavors with mango-pineapple flavored pearls. The drink gets its distinctive purple color from butterfly pea flower infusion, which Starbucks says makes the beverage “just as beautiful as it is delicious.”
The Tropical Butterfly Refresher can be customized with lemonade or coconut milk as well as preferred caffeine levels and B vitamins, the coffeehouse chain said.
Horchata-inspired beverages are making a return to Starbucks this summer, with an Iced Horchata Shaken Espresso and a new Horchata Frappuccino on the menu. The drinks draw on flavors from Mexican-style horchata, combining cinnamon, vanilla and toasted rice notes.
The Iced Horchata Shaken Espresso is made with Starbucks Blonde Espresso, horchata syrup, ice and oat milk
The Unicorn Cake Pop is making its seasonal return as well. The treat features vanilla cake mixed with confetti sprinkles, dipped in white chocolate icing and decorated with a unicorn face design.
A “Road Trip” collection, themed around summer travel, includes mugs, tumblers, a canvas mini tote bag and a foldable picnic blanket.
Beginning May 19, the company will also roll out a limited-edition Miffy collaboration — a drinkware and lifestyle collection featuring the Dutch cartoon rabbit character — available at Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada.
Scheduled ordering arrives in Starbucks app
The summer menu will arrive a day after Starbucks launches its scheduled ordering feature on its app.
The feature lets customers plan their Starbucks visit ahead of time, with as much as one hour ahead of pickup time.
