A North Texas security guard was shot and injured on Saturday night, Fort Worth police said.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Another North Texas security guard was shot Saturday night in Fort Worth, marking the third shooting of a security guard in just one week.

Officers responded to reports of reckless driving around 11:29 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, in the 1900 block of Mitchell Boulevard, the Fort Worth Police Department said in a press release. While responding to the call, they were dispatched to reports of someone being pepper-sprayed in a nearby parking lot, the release states.

When officers arrived on the scene, they heard a gunshot and saw people running from the scene, police said.

A security guard working at the location, which appears to be an autobody shop, was shot in the vest he was wearing, according to the press release. Officers were able to obtain a description of the suspect in the shooting, who then returned to the scene and began shooting at officers while they were attempting to locate them, police said.

The suspect was arrested for aggravated assault, the release states. The department’s gun violence unit is investigating the incident.

Early Sunday morning, another Fort Worth security guard was shot and killed at an after-hours club. Police told WFAA the suspect has not been arrested.

Last week, Dallas security guard 26-year-old Joseph Gray, was shot and killed while trying to break up a fight inside a Deep Ellum business. 23-year-old Detorius Tarver has been charged with murder.
