Tarleton State University aims to deliver the first infrastructure upgrade in its planned 17-building campus expansion project in Fort Worth in 2028.
The university seeks to begin construction on an overpass off Chisholm Trail Parkway sometime this year. The new structure will create direct access to the Tarleton State Fort Worth campus and represents just one piece in the university’s recently unveiled masterplan project. Construction on the overpass will take two years to complete.
The masterplan aims to grow the existing two-building campus to 17 buildings. The five-phase expansion project includes developing new residence halls, a recreation center, academic buildings, student center and an alumni welcome center. A campus quad will also be built around the first three buildings on the complex and tie to additional academic multipurpose space in the future.
The overall masterplan also calls for the development of a child-care development center. A campus survey conducted last year found that half of the students currently enrolled are parents who would take advantage of the amenity, Rachael Capua, vice president for external operations and dean of Tarleton State Fort Worth, said during the April 30 campus event unveiling the masterplan.
