The toys, which include yo-yos, maracas, Halloween wands, light-up sticks and more, fail to meet mandatory safety standards for children’s toys.
WASHINGTON — More than 100,000 light-up toys are under recall from safety regulators because they fail to meet safety standards for children’s toys.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall alert for multiple light up toys as the button cell batteries can be easily accessed by children, posing a risk of serious injury or death from battery ingestion. The recalled toys include light-up sticks, Halloween wands, headbands, flying discs, maracas, Yo-Yos and whistle necklaces.
The toys are manufactured by ZMC Group, according to the recall alert.
If button cell or coin batteries are swallowed, they can cause serious injuries, including internal chemical burns and death. No incidents or injuries have been reported in the recall.
The recalled products have labels with the item number, identification of the distributor, place of manufacture, production date and batch number. The items were sold at various discount stores from May 2023 through April 2026, retailing at roughly $1.
Consumers are urged to stop use of the toys immediately and to take them away from children. Those with the recalled toys can contact ZMC Group for a full refund.
According to the notice, consumers will be asked to remove the batteries, break each component in half and write “RECALLED” or a large “X” on the product with permanent marker and submit a photo of the marked pieces to recallzmctoy@gmail.com.
