Parties in suit related to death of owner of Floore's and The Mix agree to settle without trial

The lawsuit over the death of San Antonio music venue operator Blayne Tucker, who had stakes in both Floore’s Country Store and The Mix, has been resolved, the Express-News reports.

The remaining defendants in the suit — filed in the wake of Tucker’s 2022 death after taking fentanyl-laced cocaine — agreed to a mediated settlement, a San Antonio Jeremy Sloan, who represented Tucker’s mother, told the daily.

Camille Gray, Tucker’s mother and estate administrator, filed a legal claim in 2024 alleging the business UBar None LLC, which runs North Side music venue 502 Bar, contributed to her son’s death. The suit also accused Deric Wynne — a partner in the club — and Wynne’s significant other, Katherine S. Kohler, of providing the cocaine to Tucker.

UBar was dismissed from the case in October after it settled with Gray, the Express-News reports, citing court records.

In the case’s most recent development, Wynne and Kohler resolved Gray’s complaint in mediation Friday, Sloan told the daily. The attorney said the agreement limits what he can say about the settlements.

“I think Ms. Gray is happy to have closed this chapter and is ready to put this litigation behind her,” Sloan told the Express-News.

Although trained as an attorney, Tucker dove into the world of music by touring the world as Austin-based blues guitarist Gary Clark Jr.’s road manager. He then focused his attention on building up San Antonio’s live music scene by taking ownership stakes in the local venues he helped run.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tucker emerged as a key advocate for the Save Our Stages Act, bipartisan congressional legislation that helped music venues ride out months of inactivity.
