The Trader Joe’s location near Stone Oak is scheduled for a summer makeover.

Starting in June, the California-based grocery company will pump $2.5 million into renovating its store at 403 N. Loop 1604 West, state regulatory filings show. Changes to the building will include new check-out stands, a new walk-in cooler, a new crew restroom, a new bridge and replacement of its refrigerator and freezer cases.

The project is expected to wrap up in early December, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The Current reached out to Trader Joe’s for more information about the renovation but got no response by press time.

The Trader Joe’s on Loop 1604 is the grocer’s second San Antonio location, the first having launched in Alamo Heights’ Quarry development in 2012 to much fanfare. The nearly 12,500-square-foot Stone Oak store made its debut two years later.

A third Trader Joe’s location opened last year inside the Huebner Oaks Shopping Center at 11745 I-10, Suite 745.
