4-year-old dies after being found in a pool in Galveston, police say

A boy died after Galveston Beach Patrol, police and EMS tried to revive him.

GALVESTON, Texas — A tragic incident unfolded Thursday evening on Seawall Blvd. in Galveston, where a 4-year-old boy died after being pulled from a swimming pool at a condo property.

According to Galveston Police, the incident occurred at approximately 5:15 p.m. along Seawall Boulevard near Central City Boulevard. Emergency responders were called after the child was found in distress in the pool.

Lifeguards with the Galveston Beach Patrol were first on the scene and began emergency care. Officers from the Galveston Police Department and personnel with Galveston EMS arrived shortly afterward to assist.

The child was transported by EMS to the trauma center at UTMB, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the incident. In a statement, officials expressed their sorrow, calling the event a heartbreaking loss for the community.

The incident remains under investigation.
