HOUSTON — Alabama Street will be closed from Chenevert Street to St. Emanuel Street until February of next year as crews work on a reconstruction project, including the demolition of the bridge over I-69.

TxDOT says the Alabama Street bridge demolition over I-69 will take place over two phases.
The first phase starts at 9 p.m. on May 1 and will last through Monday, May 4 at 5 a.m. The I-69 northbound lanes from SH 288 to Alabama Street will be closed during this phase.
The second phase is set to start at 9 p.m. on May 8 and run through May 11 at 5 a.m. The I-69 southbound lanes from Polk Street to SH 288 will be shut down during this phase.
Crews will then rebuild the bridge.
