Court records show James Elmore Jr. is now also facing charges related to child pornography and visual materials depicting sexual assault.
GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas — There are new charges for a man accused in connection with the infamous ‘Texas Killing Fields’ deaths.
James Elmore Jr. was arrested in March. He’s charged with manslaughter and felony tampering with evidence in the death of Laura Miller and has an additional felony tampering with evidence charge in the death of Audrey Cook.
Now KHOU 11 has learned that he is also charged with possession of child pornography and possessing visual material depicting sexual assault.
According to a search warrant obtained by KHOU 11 last month, investigators were looking for evidence related to alleged child pornography that they believed Elmore had when he was arrested.
Investigators were at the Bacliff property searching for human remains for several days. No remains were ever found.
Tim Miller, Laura Miller’s father and founder of Texas EquuSearch, was referenced in the search warrant. He said he developed a relationship with Elmore in recent years and that Elmore provided details about the circumstances surrounding his daughter’s death.
Miller said Elmore told him he was with Clyde Hedrick the day Hedrick allegedly gave Laura Miller drugs that led to her death. Hedrick, who had been linked by authorities to multiple killings, died by suicide in March.
Miller also said he was told that Hedrick previously owned the Bacliff property and that the remains of two additional girls could be buried there.
The Texas Killing Fields, a stretch of land along Interstate 45 between Houston and Galveston, has been the site of numerous unsolved killings dating back decades.
