It happened in Memorial Park, according to the police department.
HOUSTON — A man was arrested early Friday morning after police say he jumped into a Houston Fire Department firetruck and drove off while the crew was responding to an emergency call. The man reportedly crashed through a fence before being taken to a hospital and then transported to jail.
The incident began around 2:45 a.m. when an HFD firetruck was parked along Memorial Loop Drive during an active call for service. According to a spokesperson for the Houston Police Department, a man climbed into the unattended firetruck and drove away.
The suspect allegedly clipped a parked car before crashing through a fence Memorial Loop Drive near the baseball field. He was transported to a hospital following the crash.
After receiving medical treatment, the man was arrested and was taken to jail. He is expected to face felony theft charges.
