Jose Osman Aguilar Cantillano is accused of killing two people and injuring four others when he opened fire at a sports bar last weekend.
LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas — The man accused of opening fire into a Liberty County sports bar, killing two people and injuring four others, is now on the Texas 10 Most Wanted list.
Jose Osman Aguilar Cantillano, 32, is wanted on murder charges.
Investigators said he opened fire at the Alas Locas sports bar in the Plum Grove area just before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7.
A $7,500 cash reward is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.
The shooting
Investigators said Cantillano was at the bar around midnight and drank several beers and paid in cash when he left. About two hours later, he returned with a handgun and opened fire — first at people on the patio and then through the front door.
When deputies arrived, they found six people had been shot.
- Alexis Jasso, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Fernando Navarrete, 43, was flown to an area hospital and later died on Sept. 8.
- Four others — Sandra Patricia Valiz Adrian, 42; Aldegundo Alvarez Trujillo, 40; Jose Rafael Sanchez, 34; and Andres Gonzalez, 35 — were treated for injuries to the hand, shoulder, or leg and later released.
Deputies said he lives near the bar and owns a white full-size construction-style van. Surveillance images showed the suspect leaving in a similar van with no side windows, a scratch along the side, and damage from hitting another car while driving away.
Cantillano remains at large. Deputies believe he may be driving the van and could be traveling toward New Orleans or Atlanta since he has family in those cities. They said he could also be driving a green Toyota Corolla.
Authorities said Cantillano wasn’t a regular at the bar, and the employees didn’t know him. They’re still working to determine a motive for the shooting.
A day after the shooting, investigators executed a search warrant at his home, but he wasn’t there. That evening, deputies arrested his wife, Alejandra Marie Valdez Montoya, 23, on a charge of tampering with evidence. She was booked into the Liberty County Jail without incident.
