KHOU 11 spoke exclusively with one alleged victim about the fight that was caught on camera.
HUMBLE, Texas — The McDonald’s at Will Clayton & Wilson is a popular destination for Humble High School students, given its proximity to campus.
But a quick bite on Monday afternoon turned into a fight when at least two students claimed they were initially attacked for not giving up their seats to other students.
The video was shot by an anonymous bystander and shared on social media.
“I see a couple of kids fighting with, like, 10 kids versus two,” said parent Carmen Garcia.
Her son, Antonio, showed us scratches and bruises on his face and shoulder that he said were from the altercation.
The English As A Second Language (ESL) student recently started his senior year at Humble High School.
While we blurred the video since juveniles are involved, Garcia can be seen getting struck by multiple people.
“I got up and they pushed me and started beating me up,” said Antonio. “I reacted, and before you know it, 10 to 15 guys finished beating us up.”
He told us he knows some of the other students involved and said there’s never been similar issues on campus.
“I came to talk to the principal right now and I told her I don’t want it to happen again,” said Ms. Garcia. “She said they’re working on it and some kids, they know some kids.”
According to Humble ISD, the Harris County DA’s Office filed misdemeanor assault charges against a 17-year-old, while another teen was cited for disorderly conduct.
Student code of conduct punishment applies because McDonald’s is so close to the school.
Here’s Humble ISD’s full statement:
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office has filed a charge of Assault with Bodily Injury, a Class A misdemeanor, against a 17-year-old male in connection with an incident that occurred on Monday, September 8, at approximately 3:30 p.m. at a McDonald’s in Humble.
According to investigators, the incident began as a disagreement between two groups of teenagers over a table. From the incident, one male teenager sustained a concussion and another male teenager suffered facial injuries.
Officers from the City of Humble Police Department stopped the 17-year-old as he was walking away from the restaurant. Humble ISD Police assisted in the investigation.
Evidence was presented to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, resulting in a charge against the 17-year-old. In addition, another 17-year-old male received a citation for disorderly conduct.
Because the incident took place within 300 feet of a school campus, Humble High School is authorized to issue disciplinary consequences under the Student Code of Conduct and will be doing so. Violence has no place in our community.
