Deputies say two people were killed and four others hurt in a Liberty County sports bar shooting. A 32-year-old suspect has been identified and remains at large.
LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas — Deputies are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a deadly shooting at the Alas Locos Sports Bar in the Plum Grove area that left two people dead and four others injured, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.
What happened
The shooting happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7, at the bar on County Road 5018. Investigators said the suspect had been at the bar around midnight, where he drank several beers and paid in cash. About two hours later, he returned with a handgun and opened fire — first at people on the patio and then through the front door.
When deputies arrived, they found six people had been shot.
- Alexis Jasso, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Francisco Navarrete, 43, was flown to an area hospital and later died on Sept. 8.
- Four others — Sandra Patricia Valiz Adrian, 42; Aldegundo Alvarez Trujillo, 40; Jose Rafael Sanchez, 34; and Andres Gonzalez, 35 — were treated for injuries to the hand, shoulder, or leg and later released.
Suspect identified
Through numerous tips, investigators identified the suspect as Jose Osman Aguilar Cantillano, 32. Deputies said he lives near the bar and owns a white full-size construction-style van. Surveillance images showed the suspect leaving in a similar van with no side windows, a scratch along the side, and damage from hitting another car while driving away.
A murder warrant has been issued for Cantillano. On Sept. 8, investigators executed a search warrant at his home, but he was not there. That evening, deputies arrested his wife, Alejandra Marie Valdez Montoya, 23, on a charge of tampering with evidence. She was booked into the Liberty County Jail without incident.
Cantillano remains at large. Deputies believe he may be driving the van and could be traveling toward New Orleans, Louisiana, or Atlanta, Georgia.

Community reacts
The violence has shaken friends of the victims.
“It could have been one of us [me or my husband],” said Yahaira Guadarrama, who often spent time at the bar. “And it hurts because it’s not just friends, it’s somebody that I know if anything happens we are like I got your back, if you need anything, let me know.”
She added: “Nothing is going to be back to normal, nothing is going to be the same no more, so he really messed up, so I just hope he gets what he deserves.”
How to help
Anyone with information about Cantillano’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at 936-336-4500 or their local law enforcement agency. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 800-392-7867.
