Harris County Sheriff’s Office officials said the tow truck driver was helping a stranded motorist when his wrecker was hit by an oversized 18-wheeler’s load.
HOUSTON — A tow truck driver was seriously injured Monday after getting hit by their own wrecker, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
It happened on the East Loop southbound ramp to I-10 east.
The “tow and go” wrecker had stopped to help a stranded motorist on the flyover when an oversized 18-wheeler’s load struck the tow truck. The tow truck then hit the driver, causing serious injuries.
Investigators were working to determine exactly what had happened, and drivers were advised to take alternate routes to access the East Freeway from the Loop.
