A state filing shows Houston’s new George R. Brown Convention Center South building will cost at least $138 million to build.
Details about the initial costs associated with the new George R. Brown Convention Center South building that Houston First Corp. plans to break ground on later this year have started to emerge, thanks to a state filing.
The first construction elements of the nearly 700,000-square-foot building are expected to cost at least $138.1 million, the Sept. 3 Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing said.

Construction is scheduled to begin in December and be completed in mid-2028, according to the filing.
TDLR filings are preliminary and are often subject to change.
